Laser hardening 

Laser hardening increases  wear resistance and extends the lifetime of tooling.

Advantages

  • Hardening of the working surface to 55-60 HRc
    Selective hardening in the stressed areas
  • Hardening depth up to 2 mm (compared to nitriding hardness depth 0.2-0.3 mm)
  • Reduced distortion due to low thermal stress
  • Adjustment of hardening tools not necessary
  • Minimizing of finishing work

Compare

We use Nd-YAG-laser hardening, which offers additional advantages compared to a conventional CO2-laser:

  • Consistent depth and degree of hardening through directly controlled hardening temperature
  • Hardening of 3D-contours
  • No coating, therefore no blasting (surface finishing) necessary defined gauge width
